How fit should I be?

Based on the average club member, potential members should be comfortable with riding 100 miles in 8 hours including stops, with 1000m of climbing. Training routes should include some hill climbing. To give you some idea, a typical 100 mile route would be to ride from Burnley to Hawes in the Yorkshire Dales, via Settle and Ribblehead, returning over Fleet Moss to Kettlewell and Gargrave, and back to Burnley. If you can ride this route comfortably in under 8 hours then you're probably fit enough for Burnley Cycling Club.

What type of bike should I use?

Most members tend to use a road cycle with basic Campag/Shimano. A triple chainset is a good idea but 39 X 23 will be needed by the strongest riders. 23mm tyres are really the bare minimum for Audax events and multi-day tours.

If I join Burnley CC will I become part of a team?

No! Burnley CC is a club full of individualised long-distance cyclists, all of which simply happen to share the same cycling interests and we'd like to retain this tradition.
